ESL Program:
In a study by Dr.Geoffry Sauer in 1996 he states the following;"'between 1990 and the year 2000, immigrants will represent the largest share of the increase in the population and the workforce since World War I . This increase in foreign residents calls for added attention to specialized literacy programs designed to teach the English language to students who speak another language. These programs are needed so that immigrants can obtain jobs in the U.S. and ease their transition into American society. English as a Second Language (ESL) programs provide a solution to this education demand, but these programs require much development and improvement if they are to keep up with the growing immigrant population. Standards in teaching methods and curriculum of ESL programs, along with stable leadership, staffing, and funding, need to be planned and implemented to handle the increasing demand for second language education."
Here we are 15 years later and this is still a major concern in some areas of the United States, within this concern we here at Legacy International have the same concerns as others have had since then and it is the education and the quality of that education of our fellow man or woman. The offering of stable leadership, staffing for the employer, and the funding to allow all of this to take place at a central location offering teachers and programs with an established history that can meet our mission in serving the community.
ESP Program:
ESP programs focus on developing communicative competence in a specific field, such as business, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, To meet these specalized communication needs, more and more individuals have specific employment and professional reasons for seeking to improve their language skills: for these students, usually adults, allows us to adapt our courses to fall under the heading English for Special Purposes (ESP)....for more information click here
